Crosby Systems own and operate their own telecommunications and data network. We are licensed by Ofcom as a Fixed Line Network Operator and a Virtual Mobile Operator (MVNO) within the United Kingdom.
We have created our own corporate cloud based technology system, that gives us the scalability, redundancy and diversity that rivals many of our competitors networks, but best of all, our network is based on an open source architecture – meaning we are not dependant on any one provider or manufacturer.
As an early adopter to cloud based technology, we’ve had time to iron out many of the issues surrounding ownership of data, redundancy, reliability and resilience, while creating world class applications within a stable distributed computing environment – fit for a 21st Century business.
Our core internet connectivity is provided by a 1Gbit/s connection into the Tier 1 provider Global Crossing. Our secondary connection is interconnected through Virgin Media who have one of the biggest IP networks in the UK.
Our infrastructure is based in a ISO 27001 certified data centre facility on Merseyside, using the latest energy efficient technology, enabling us to keep operational costs low and functionally high.
For additional redundancy, we have 3 other sites located within Europe that are replicated to each other in real-time, which use totally separate IP connectivity and telephone connectivity with the added advantage of total geographical separation.
Our telecoms network is based on our open switch architecture, connected into the UK’s largest and most advanced business network. Our combined architecture contains over 3,500 lines of IVR, that is operated at no higher than 62% capacity at any one time.
Whist we can handle 3,500 simultaneous calls at any time on our IVR and we have dedicated line groups on top of our main lines for fax (900 lines), conferencing (1,200) and call recording (3,500).
To help ensure durability, we synchronously store customer data across multiple facilities. Once stored, we maintain durability by quickly detecting and repairing any lost redundancy.
Our network also regularly verifies the integrity of data stored using checksums. If corruption is detected, it is repaired using redundant data. In addition, it calculates checksums on all network traffic to detect corruption of data packets when storing or retrieving data. Our network is designed to provide 99.999999999% durability and 99.99% availability over a given year and additionally designed to sustain the concurrent loss of data in two facilities.
The Crosby Systems network offers a highly durable, scalable, and secure cloud that can scale in terms of storage, request rate, and users to support an unlimited number of applications. It uses scale as an advantage: Adding nodes to the system increases, not decreases, its availability, speed, throughput, capacity, and robustness.
Due to our network design and our confidence in its performance and reliability, we are able to boast a guaranteed Monthly Uptime Percentage of at least 99.9%.
